The
Los Alamos Physician and Hospital Organization (PHO) includes
the majority of physicians and the Los Alamos Medical Center.
The purpose of the organization is to support and encourage
accessible, quality health care for all residents in Los
Alamos and surrounding communities. The physician members
are Board certified and cover a wide range of medical specialties
while the Hospital is a modern acute care facility with
excellent inpatient and outpatient services available 24
hours daily. The physicians and the Hospital through the
PHO have excellent referral relationships with Santa Fe
and Albuquerque physician and Hospital providers for services
not available in Los Alamos.
The
PHO was formed in 1994 and contracts with the majority
of health insurance plans and managed care companies throughout
New Mexico. In addition, the physicians and Hospital contract
with all New Mexico Salud Medicaid Health Plans in order
to provide Medicaid services in Los Alamos, Espanola and
other neighboring communities. As a community service,
the PHO also provides health education, community health
promotion and screening programs in Los Alamos.
